Our Impact: Meet Jayden

Please know that Jayden passed away on December 28, 2023. We remember his strength through his story below.

The word “Viking” brings to mind images of a strong warrior. Pat Mac’s Pack recently provided support to Jayden a student at St Laurence High School, home of the Vikings. No one better exemplifies the characteristics of a true Viking more than Jayden.

In the summer of 2022, entering his sophomore year, Jayden decided to try out for football. While at camp, he experienced knee pain. On the advice of an astute trainer, his mom took him to an orthopedic doctor to have a look. He was quickly diagnosed with metastatic osteosarcoma, bone cancer. Because it was found in his tibia with skip lesions in his femur, it was considered metastatic. He immediately started chemotherapy and had surgery in November to remove the bone and replace it with titanium. Things were progressing well until June 2023 when a nodule was found on his lung. New chemo was started but unfortunately the nodule grew, and more appeared. He has been in and out of the hospital since, most recently with pneumonia. Despite all, he has been able to attend school 1-2 days a week, and is hoping to cheer on his teammates as they head into the state playoffs.

Please keep this warrior in your thoughts and prayers as he continues his battle.
